I was in a house, and it seemed that we were preparing for a war that was to come. We had meetings about it, and from those meetings, we thought we were ready. We were very happy and could not wait for the war.
I remember seeing multiple brethren—both brothers and sisters—coming in, and their faces shone with excitement for the war. I, too, was very happy and impatient. We had had enough time and had been preparing for this war for so long. We had learned every tactic, drawn every plan and strategy we needed, and understood the war through and through, so we presumed it would be a walkover because of the kind of training we had received.
As the day was dawning, we heard a sudden cry that the enemies were here. All of us went out to look and confirm it. By this time, it seemed we were in a high building and could see an aerial view of the ground. As we confirmed that the enemies were indeed there, we went in to get kitted, only for each of us to discover that we were missing parts of our armor. No one seemed to know where they had kept some pieces of their armor.
I had put on everything but could not find my headband and shoes and was still in my slippers. I ransacked all the rooms and searched everywhere possible, but could not find them.
I also realized that I had not unpacked a bundle of new swords and sharpened them beforehand.
I would pass brothers and sisters who were also searching for parts of their armor. It was then that it dawned on us that we had been carried away by the excitement of the war and had not kept our armor where it should have been.
It seemed that I and the rest of the brethren had become commanders of different bands, even though we did not have complete armour. I called for the battle line to be drawn before the enemy arrived, even though we were not ready. I said we would fight as we were so that they would not outrun us.
People started complaining and became afraid. I knew we would be finished if we stepped out without being fully kitted, and I too was afraid for the soldiers under me. I rushed out to make sure the enemies were not too close.
When I went out, I saw that they were children charging at us, not the actual enemies. Then I heard:
“Test.”
I understood that we had been tested and found unready, and I went back in. But it was certain that the enemies would be coming soon.
