God knowing what will happen does not mean that every detail of a person’s life happens without regard to their decisions.
Much of life is conditional.
There can be a direction a person’s life will go if they listen to God’s instruction, and another direction if they disregard it. Your decisions and the way you walk affect what plays out.
God can know certain predetermined outcomes while still working with people and their decisions.
The distinction is important. There is God’s plan and there are the different pieces that help bring that plan about. Those pieces can change.
Saul was meant to have a dynasty, but that plan moved to David. Jeroboam was given an opportunity concerning his dynasty, but he did not continue in it.
This does not mean God’s plan failed. It means that the different people and conditions involved in carrying out His purposes changed.
Daniel even told Nebuchadnezzar to show mercy to the poor and practice righteousness, saying that God might extend his tranquility.
So, when we talk about God’s power, we should not use it as an excuse to ignore our decisions.
God knows. At the same time, how we respond to His dealings matters.
