Faith means trust. If you want to understand faith, replace the word “faith” with “trust.”
Do you trust God?
That is better than asking, “Do you have faith in God?” because the word faith has been abused. People use words like faith, grace, sanctification and holiness, without actually understanding what they mean.
If you trust God, it will show in your actions.
If you trusted God, why did you not pray about it? If you trusted God, why didn’t you wait until He answered you? If you trusted God, why did you commit a sin to get a solution?
If you trusted God, you would wait on the Lord. You would ask Him. And when He speaks, you would do what He says.
Does God sometimes tell us to do difficult things? Absolutely.
That is one of the reasons people don’t trust Him. They are afraid of the pain that might come from obeying Him.
When God told me to leave the job I had been doing for nearly seven years, with a family of eight mouths to feed, that was not an easy instruction. But trust is not about whether something feels easy. Trust is not just saying, “I trust You.”
Heaven is not impressed because you sang a song about trusting God while your actions say something completely different.
Without trust, it is impossible to please God.
