One of the greatest deceptions of this age is the belief that a Christian’s life should always be comfortable.
Many believers measure God’s faithfulness by how little they have to suffer. When obedience becomes costly, they begin to question whether they heard God correctly.
But Scripture presents a different pattern: suffering first, glory afterwards.
Paul wrote, “If we endure, we will also reign with Him.” (2 Timothy 2:12)
The question is not whether you will suffer. The question is whether you will suffer for a little while because you obeyed Christ or enjoy temporary comfort by compromising Him.
Many people avoid rejection at all costs. They compromise truth to preserve relationships, opportunities, or acceptance.
This life is brief. Even if a believer suffered for decades because he remained faithful to Christ, those years would eventually come to an end. Compared to eternity, they are only a moment.
Peter reminds us that after we have suffered a little while, the God of all grace will Himself restore, establish, strengthen, and settle us. (1 Peter 5:10)
God calls our present suffering “a little while” because He measures time differently from us. He sees beyond this age to the glory that awaits those who remain faithful.
Do not build your life around avoiding hardship. Build it around obeying Christ.
Temporary suffering for Christ is never a wasted investment. The Kingdom is worth far more than anything this world can offer.
It is far better to endure suffering now and reign with Christ forever than to enjoy a fleeting season of ease only to discover that you have sacrificed what truly matters.
