Many believers misunderstand spiritual warfare. They think repeating Bible verses automatically gives them power. It does not.
The Word hidden in your heart is like a sword inside its scabbard. Until it comes out, it has not yet become the sword. It becomes a sword when it is spoken from a heart that is full of the Word.
Jesus said it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. That means you cannot effectively speak what has never filled your heart. (Luke 6:45; Matthew 12:34)
Many people open prayer books. Someone tells them what to declare. They repeat words that are not living inside them. Their mouths are speaking, but their hearts are empty. That is why they become discouraged.
They say they have prayed and prayed but nothing happened.
First put the Word into your heart. That takes time. It takes sitting quietly with Scripture. Listening carefully. Meditating. Receiving. Holding onto what God has spoken.
This is why the enemy fights your attention whenever the Word is being preached, read or listened to.
He knows if the Word never enters your heart, your mouth will never release real spiritual authority.
Do not rush to declarations. Fill your heart first. Then, when your mouth opens, the sword of the Spirit comes forth with power.
