Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
You do not know how to pray, how to fight, or how to operate correctly without the word of God.
It is the word that shows you what is spirit, what is soul, and what is flesh. Without it, you will mix everything together.
Your soul is like a sponge. It absorbs things from everywhere—your upbringing, your environment, teachings, experiences, culture.
So you may think something is spiritual simply because it is familiar. But familiarity is not truth.
The word of God is what separates. It tells you: this is spirit, this is soul.
Jesus said the words I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life (John 6:63).
So if you want to function properly in warfare, you must build your life around the word. Not around what you have seen. Not around what you feel. Not around what people taught you growing up. But around what is written.
Because many things people call prayer today are not prayer. Many things people call spiritual are not spiritual. And many battles people are fighting, they are fighting wrongly.
If you don’t use the word as your standard, you will continue like that—active, loud, involved—but ineffective. And in warfare, effectiveness is what matters.
