One of the things I have learned is that sometimes obedience comes before you understand everything God is doing.
There was a period in my life when I had stopped leading the work God had originally called me to do. I joined another church group, and while I was there, people began asking me to share.
Within a few months, they were asking me to teach regularly. I tried to give them a few minutes, and they told me they wanted much more. Eventually, I was teaching for long periods.
Later, I discovered that before I even came there, there had been a word that after a certain message was preached, someone would teach about the judgments of God.
And what was I teaching? The judgments of God.
I knew nothing about that word. I had simply come, obeyed the opportunities that were presented to me, and found myself fulfilling something God had already arranged.
But there was another lesson I had to learn.
Just because God sends you somewhere does not necessarily mean He has told you to stay there permanently.
I stayed much longer than I should have.
There were things happening around me that should have made me understand that it was time to move. There were opportunities to preach the gospel. There were moments when the power of God was clearly moving. There were things happening that I could not explain.
Yet I did not understand.
Eventually, I realized that God had been showing me what He wanted me to do, but I was slow to recognize it.
Sometimes, we keep asking God for another explanation when He has already given us enough information to obey.
You may not have every detail. You may not understand how everything will work. You may not even understand why God is leading you in a particular direction.
But if God has spoken clearly, obey.
You obey first. God will answer your questions later. Do not make your lack of understanding an excuse for disobedience.
