When we say God is love, we are not speaking about feelings. God does not merely know about love. He is love. His existence is expressed through patience, kindness, humility, endurance, and long-suffering.
First Corinthians 13 describes God. God is patient. God is kind. God does not boast. God is not proud. God endures all things. God suffers long at our hands.
Think about it. How many insults God has collected in this world. How many times you misbehaved and expected lightning to strike you. It did not. Then you went back to Him when you were in trouble, and He helped you.
Most human beings would have cut you off. God did not. He endured. That is humility embodied. He knows He is mighty. He knows He deserves praise. And yet, when we do not give it, He remains patient.
Sometimes, once in a long while, He reminds us that He is still the boss. But most of the time, He endures. That is love.
