A mosquito does not need your entire window open. It does not need to break your wall. It does not need to remove your roof. It does not need to force open your door. All it needs is a small opening.
If you have ever watched a mosquito around a net, you will notice something. It is patient. It moves slowly. It searches carefully. It looks for the smallest gap. It keeps checking until it finds access.
The devil operates the same way.
Many believers think their strength in one area will protect them from weakness in another area. It doesn’t work that way.
A thief does not study your strongest door. He studies the one you forgot to lock.
I was reminded of multiple stories where thieves entered houses without breaking anything. Gates were locked. Front doors were secured. Burglary proofing was in place. Yet one small door, one forgotten latch, one unlocked screen gave access to everything.
The thief did not force entry. He simply used the opening that was already available. This is exactly what happens spiritually.
The devil is not always looking for your strongest point. He is looking for the area you have neglected. The small compromise. The unaddressed weakness. The habit you excuse. The attitude you refuse to deal with.
A small opening is often all he needs. That is why Scripture says, “Do not give the devil a foothold.” (Ephesians 4:27)
Not a stronghold. A foothold. Because a foothold eventually becomes much more.
