You need a helmet of hope. When you begin to lose hope, Satan brings thoughts of hopelessness, and if you accept them, you have taken off your helmet. (1 Thessalonians 5:8)
He will also tell you, “This righteousness, do you really need it? Hasn’t Jesus done it all?”
No. You better put on your breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14)
The righteousness of the saints is not the righteousness of Christ. Stop mixing the two. Your breastplate is something you wear. It is your righteousness.
First John 3:7 says, “He that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.”
There are two righteousnesses: there is your own righteousness, and there is His righteousness. This is you doing what is right. That also protects you. Acts of righteousness. You actually do it.
In the book of Revelation, it is described as a garment of shining light. (Revelation 19:8)
It is what the enemy sees and goes, “This will be tough.”
When you don’t have righteousness, you are vulnerable to temptation because, in the spirit realm, you are naked. They hit you with one arrow, then another, then another.
But if you have a shield and a breastplate, even if an arrow gets past your shield, your breastplate should deflect it. There should be nothing going straight in.
That is why everybody needs their armour.
