One of the reasons many people do not truly come to Jesus is because they do not understand how much they need saving.
The Lord has already made access available through the blood of Jesus. This is part of the new covenant. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13; Acts 2:21)
Yet many people refuse to come. They maintain a standoff with God. Their attitude is, “I will win. I will do it my own way. I will figure it out.”
You will not win. Not because God is fighting against you, but because you cannot save yourself.
His name, Yeshua, means Saviour. A saviour saves. That is His role. Your role is to be saved. (Matthew 1:21)
Many people keep trying to become their own saviour. Every year they make new resolutions. Every month they decide to change. Every week they promise themselves they will do better. Then they fail again.
The problem is not that they lack determination. The problem is that they are trying to do the Saviour’s work.
You cannot save yourself from sin. You cannot rescue yourself from darkness. You cannot free yourself from bondage by sheer willpower.
The Scriptures tell us what to do. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
You must bow. You must acknowledge His authority. You must stop insisting that your method will work. The Saviour responds to those who come humbly, not those who come negotiating.
Many people say they have asked God for help, but the question is: Have you come His way? Have you done what He said?
God’s way of salvation has not changed. The Saviour saves. The saved stop trying to be the Saviour.
