In these days of social media, people feel pressured to speak. They want to give their opinion even when they have not studied anything. You see people arguing confidently with preachers who have spent years laboring in the scriptures. They talk strongly about things they do not understand. They use Bible verses they have never studied. And they mislead others with their confidence.
I tell my people: do not talk strongly unless you are spreading truth. If someone says something, and another preacher says another thing, go and read it for yourself. Compare notes. You have a Bible. You have the Holy Spirit. Do not feel pressured to argue. If after reading, you have understanding, you can simply say, “As far as I understand, this is what the passage says,” and walk away. That is enough.
But do not talk because you are reacting emotionally. Do not talk because you think you know. The internet has amplified ignorance. People talk without labor. They do not read concordances. They do not study context. They do not trace scripture properly. They do not allow the Word to rebuke, burn, break, and teach.
Scripture says the person who works hard will have plenty. So if you have not worked hard in the Word, be quiet when those who have storehouses of study are speaking. This is not pride. This is reality. If you will not pay the price of reading, you should not argue with those who have. Let scripture teach you. Let the Holy Spirit teach you. And let your words be few until you understand what you are talking about.
