You don’t understand the power of one disobedient servant of God.
That’s why you don’t just become a servant of God after two Bible studies. You have the power to disrupt people’s lives even without trying.
If I backslide now, I’ll disrupt multiple lives.
If I just backslide on my own and don’t involve you, it will still disrupt your life and your family.
Everyone has received, through their obedience or disobedience, the power to disrupt.
Look at Jonah. He was sleeping while the storm was raging. How is that possible? [Jonah 1:5]
People can cause problems in other people’s lives and be absolutely clueless. It’s called authority, and it’s a real thing.
You don’t want authority unless you’re ready to use it well.
When Jonah was thrown out into the sea, boom! Peace everywhere. Those people offered worship to the God of Jonah. They didn’t know Him, but they recognized that He had power over the sea. [Jonah 1:15–16]
Then Jonah eventually got another opportunity to obey. The word of the Lord came to him a second time. This time, he got up and went. [Jonah 3:1–3]
You need to understand that your decisions are not always just about you. What you do with what God has given you can affect other people. That’s why you must learn obedience.
