TITLE: STRANDED SOLDIER
MISSION: Bread for the eater v. seed for the sower

Yesterday morning I had some ‘change’ in my bag which I knew wouldn’t be enough for my transportation. So I made a mental note to take out extra money from another bag to add to it.
At the time I left, I didn’t realize I hadn’t taken the extra money and I was confidently going about my day. I remember even promising to buy corn for someone on my way back home. Little did I know I was up for some awakening.
On the last lap of my journey home, I stopped to actually get the corn. That was when reality dawned on me – I discovered I had only 30 naira left in my bag!
I started considering my options and finally decided to walk some of the distance, then take a motorcycle home and get money from the house to pay the cyclist. As I pondered on my predicament while walking, I noticed someone was running after me and the young man, who was my housemate in the NCCF Family house where I stay, was out of breath by the time he got to where I was. Apparently, he had seen me from afar and had been trying to catch up with me as he was on his way back from work too.
Then I thought, “For months, I have not met any of my housemates on my way back from work. Why today? What are the chances this was a mere coincidence? None at all!”
That was how we entered a tricycle home together and he paid my fare! I didn’t have to trek, or get on a motorcycle penniless.
God is kind!
