Romans 15:4 says everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and encouragement from the scriptures, we might have hope.
So the scriptures are not just stories. They are instructions.
Then 1 Corinthians 10:11 says these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us—those on whom the last days have come.
So who were the scriptures written for? Us. The people of the last days.
That means when you read about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Israel, the wilderness, the victories, the failures—you are not reading history. You are reading a field guide.
You are supposed to learn endurance from them. You are supposed to receive encouragement. You are supposed to gain hope. You are supposed to see patterns and understand how God works.
God told Moses, “write it down.” Why? Because a generation will come that needs these records. That generation is this one.
The question is: how much of it are you reading? And how much of it are you practicing?
Because if it was written for you, and you ignore it, you are ignoring the very thing designed to prepare you for what is coming.
The scriptures are not optional. They are preparation.
