One of the great mistakes believers make is assuming that everybody should be doing the same thing.
God has different callings.
David was largely a man of the field. Solomon was largely a man of the temple.
David fought battles. Solomon built.
David’s assignment required one kind of life. Solomon’s assignment required another.
Neither assignment was inferior. Both were necessary.
Some people are called outward into public engagements, leadership responsibilities, confrontations, and battles.
Others are called inward into building, teaching, administration, service, and stewardship. Then there are some servants who seem to function in both realms.
God has different plans for different people. The problem begins when people stop trusting God’s assignment and start comparing themselves with others.
A person called to build wants to fight. A person called to fight wants to build. A person called to teach wants to govern. A person called to govern wants to do something else.
Faith is being content with what God sends you to do.
The issue is not whether your assignment looks impressive to people. The issue is whether it came from God.
The safest place to be is inside God’s purpose, not inside somebody else’s.
