Some people get invited to preach a few times and immediately conclude that the calling has arrived.
A few opportunities come. A few doors open. People start noticing them. Then they assume the ministry has fully begun.
Not necessarily. Many things that look like fulfillment are actually preparation.
God may be training you. God may be testing you. God may be developing things in you that cannot be rushed.
If somebody asks you to preach, go and preach. But don’t build your identity around the invitation.
Preach with the mindset that nobody may ever invite you again. Serve faithfully and leave the rest to God.
Can people manipulate things and keep opportunities flowing? Of course they can. They can network. They can push themselves. They can maintain visibility. They can create systems that keep them relevant.
But if it is not God’s time, there will eventually be a crash. Many crashes happen because people do not understand God’s seasons.
Look at Jesus. At twelve years old He amazed the teachers in the temple (Luke 2:46–47). Then He disappeared from public view. The next major appearance recorded is around age thirty (Luke 3:23).
The Son of God waited eighteen years. Yet people who have barely done anything are already desperate to make a name for themselves.
Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. (Isaiah 40:31)
Waiting is not inactivity. Waiting is trust. Waiting is submission. Waiting is allowing God to determine timing instead of forcing your own.
God’s timing protects what God is building.
