Paul said something that should make many people afraid.
He said after preaching to others, he himself could still become disqualified [1 Corinthians 9:27]. The word there means rejected.
A man can preach truth and still be rejected by God.
A man can stand with a microphone, open Bible, quote scripture correctly, move crowds, make people cry, pray for people, lay hands, and still be a fraud before God.
That means preaching is not proof. Manifestations of power are not proof. Crowd reactions are not proof.
Paul was saying what matters is not only what you say. It is what you do.
If I stand and preach holiness then leave and live in sin, I am a fraud. If I preach against greed then leave the service fighting over offering money, I am a fraud. If I preach truth then secretly manipulate people with fake prophecies, I am a fraud.
Some people can preach genuine scripture and switch immediately into deception. They know exactly what they are doing.
And the frightening part is that many of them still know how to sound spiritual while doing evil. This is why believers must stop being carried away by atmosphere alone [1 John 4:1].
Some people can create atmosphere without having fear of God. Some people can quote Jesus while planning wickedness. Some people can say “Holy Ghost” while using manipulation tactics.
What God is watching is not only what a preacher says publicly. God is watching the life behind the microphone [1 Samuel 16:7].
Paul understood this fear. That is why he disciplined himself. Because he knew preaching to others does not automatically mean you are accepted by God.
