This is what Paul said: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. That’s reality. Most Christians don’t want to admit it. We say things like, “Now I’m born again, I can’t sin,” as though sin just vanished. But Paul said it plainly—“I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” That’s not before he got saved—that’s the reality of someone who knows the law and wants to obey it.
Every time I step up to do something good, evil is right there. You want to give a gift and thank God—then evil whispers, “Call the cameraman, let’s capture it for everyone to see.”
You want to discipline your child in love and obedience to God, but then evil pushes you to go too far—abuse instead of correction. And you’re there shouting, “You stupid child!”—when all you wanted to do was raise godly seed.
That’s how sin works. It hides in you and seeks to corrupt even your good deeds.
